Students participate in dress-up themes for the DRHS Eagle Spirit Week, the week of February 3-7, 2025. Students were allowed to dress in a way they normally wouldn't. Monday: Pajama Day Tuesday: Anything but a backpack Wednesday: Dress Like Adam Sandler Thursday: BBQ Dad vs Soccer Mom Friday: Generations day Even the Cord News reporters, Owen Robertson and Emily Friesen couldn´t resist dressing up for the ¨Soccer Mom vs BBQ Dad¨ day!

The annual Valentine's Day door winners include Ms. Johnson's sophomores (shown above), Ms. Sullivan's freshmen, Ms. Caliga's Jjuniors, and Ms. Marko's seniors. "We're so excited that we won the door. My Seminar worked hard on it, and this is our second year runnin', so, who knows, maybe we'll win next year, too."

DRHS Model UN club members visit Columbia University in New York City for a 4-day conference in late January. "I think we were able to get a lot out of that in terms of getting more experience in for Model UN, and being able to bring more people into it," MUN president Jory Hamai, DRHS senior, said.

Choir students join the winter concert in December, having their own songs to sing and festively dressed to celebrate the season. Naturally, many of the songs were holiday or winter-themed as well.

DRHS Far Away Friends club was founded by the former DRHS math teacher David Purcell.
Far Away Friends Dissolves and New Club Forms
The DRHS Journalism Club celebrates their first year participating in the annual Trick-or-Treat Street event on October 29, 2025. Various other clubs and activities lined the halls to pass out candy to community families.

This is Kaylee’s second year as an editor for The Cord News. She loves her cat, reading, writing, video games, and music. When she’s not writing or reading, she’s reporting for the school newspaper. Kaylee joined the staff during her sophomore year. As a senior, this year, she turned the journalism class into a club to keep the paper alive. Kaylee dreams of becoming a medical examiner or an author. Interestingly, she struggles to work in silence.

Emily is a senior and a second-year writer for The Cord News. Emily loves journalism because she enjoys digging into politics and getting to the bottom of the story. In the future, Emily hopes to become a lawyer. When she is not in school, Emily enjoys reading, going on hikes, and spending time with her cats.
