Dakota Ridge students showed their school pride and spirit during the annual fun-filled pep rally on October 11th.

The marching band kicked off the event with uplifting music, their infectious energy getting everyone into the Homecoming mood.

Lively tug-of-war games matched freshmen against seniors and sophomores against juniors — the seniors beat the freshmen, and the juniors beat the sophomores.  “The freshmen almost winning at tug-of-war, that was a score!” math teacher Laurie Lawless said.  Then, for a final playoff game, it was seniors vs. teachers, with seniors dominating as the victors.

Performances from cheer, poms, a K-Pop group, and freshman rapper Jamir Nuanes earned loud applause throughout the gym.  And, as is the tradition, Mr. Dakota contestants topped off the day with a lively choreographed medley, including Mr. Dakota himself, Jordan Rhynard.

Although the gym was packed with supporters on Friday, one student, when asked about the pep rally, said, “There was a pep rally?”
