Senior Jaiden Miller has been racing for DRHS cross country and track since her sophomore year. The XC season is coming to a close with League having been on October 16, 2024 in Golden, CO, and state soon after. The end of this season means that she has completed DRHS XC and only gotten better.
Miller, who plans on running in college, takes XC very seriously. Her weeks start with a Monday run that lasts anywhere from 25-30 min. The team runs the same amount of time on Tuesdays, but adds an hour of full body weightlifting. Wednesdays are workout days, which consist of speed work over long distances. On Thursdays, the XC team does a slightly longer run, 30-40 minutes, with band work before practice ends. Fridays are pre-meet or meet days, and Saturday include a long run day if there is no meet. Sunday is their rest day.
“I am excited to keep running because I love it, and I feel like it’s a part of who I am,” Miller said when asked if she’s excited to hopefully continue her running career.
Next year, Miller hopes to run for Western Washington University and study biology.
“School stresses me out sometimes,” Miller said, “so running provides an outlet for me; it makes me feel less stressed than I do.”
Miller is excited to finish out the running season on a strong front with state falling Nov. 2, 2024 in Colorado Springs, CO. She will finish out her senior running career with the track season in the spring.
