The Diversity/Student Voice club of DRHS hosted an International Day on Monday, March 25th. The annual flag ceremony became an assembly for the entire school to participate in and honor the diversity within the school. Students who are from multicultural backgrounds, and who are leaving the school this year, were invited to celebrate and share their culture. Multiple different cultures sang, danced, and played instruments that are significant to their culture.
Alexis Rolls-Duffy stands with the combined treble choirs during their annual spring concert, “Where the Light Begins,” on March 26th. After months of practice, the choirs were prepared to serenade the audience, but the snowstorm on March 13th and 14th forced the concert to be canceled and rescheduled.
The Dakota Ridge Women’s soccer team won their game against Silver Creek 6-3 on March 27th. The Eagles scored four goals in the first half of the game while maintaining a strong defense. The score at the half was 4-1. After taking home the victory, the Eagles began preparing for their game against Vista PEAK Prep on Friday at 5:00 p.m.
The DRHS baseball team went home victorious after beating Vista Ridge 7-1 in their home-opening game on March 28th. The Eagles are now preparing to play against Fort Collins on Friday at 4:00 p.m.
“Thursday was great. It was an undefeated team, we played well, and we ended up winning,” baseball coach Jeff Legault said.
Dakota Ridge joined in the Erie Twilight track meet on March 29th, where they came in 9th place out of 330. The runners are preparing for their next meet on April 20th.
“I thought the meet went really well. I thought there were a lot of positives that we had from the meet. One of the big things we’ve been working on is our mindset at track meets and I feel like we executed that well. We were up for the challenges, we were ready to go up and compete, we practiced finding joy and just being present and appreciative of the moment. I thought it was a really good meet, I really enjoyed it,” track coach Andrew Gysin said.
Dakota Ridge hosted its annual egg hunt on March 30th as a community celebration of Easter. Many families showed up to let their young ones run wild and find as many eggs as they could in and outside of the school.
