Covid’s Positive Impact On Shelters
December 17, 2020
This year has brought a lot of problems and concerns to humanity in the ways we communicate, work, learn, and simply live. Businesses, office buildings, and schools have closed down, traveling has been restricted, and we are required to wear masks and stay 6 feet apart from each other. People are now at home together trying to stay away from the COVID-19 virus that has caused a pandemic around the entire world. Through all of this, some creatures are actually experiencing the best moments of their lives.
Humans have found joy in adopting and bringing in pets to their homes to be a part of their family this year. Adoptions have been happening more frequently than previous years, which shelters are very happy about. “We’ve done more than double our numbers, three times what we normally do. We had one month where we did 90 [adoptions],” Sue Ellen Scott said. With more people working at home, the cats are getting a lot more attention, good attention, and the owners are able to spend more time with them.
