The Dakota Ridge High School Craft Fair was hosted on October 19th in the gym of Dakota Ridge High School. The lunch room, gym, and main hall were packed full with various booths, with items ranging from crafts to foods. There were a total of 900 attendees, not including the kids that are under 12, who did not have to pay to go to the event.

The abundance of booths left nothing to be desired.  Some were selling clothing, others were selling jewelry, toys, and even household items. There were also a few small businesses from around the town that made an appearance.

My favorite part of the craft fair is seeing all the community people come to our event and enjoy themselves, and leave with items purchased, and smiles on their faces,” Brenda Lucas, Assistant Principal at Dakota Ridge, said.

Lucas took charge of the fair in May, replacing two community volunteers who started the fair 13 years ago.

Many craft stands sold their unique wares, such as Foozy’s sock shop.

“All of the booth fees go towards the After-Prom event. This year I used the admission fees to donate to the student government, swim team, and key club which are the groups who assisted with the vendor set up, admission table, prize table, and clean up of vendors. I could not run this event without their amazing help so I want their organizations to benefit as well,” Lucas said.

Students from the school also participated with their own booths at the fair. “It’s a good way to make some money, it’s also a hobby of mine, and a fun teen thing,” Macy Jones, a sophomore, said.

Jones makes homemade pins, and is planning on using the money from her sales for Christmas presents for her family.

“We like to come out to these things because they are part of the community, and we are doing community outreach, to just try and help as many people as possible.” Hannah Delguercio, from Amplify Chiropractic, said.

Even businesses from Littleton came to support the craft fair, and even reach out to see if they can help anyone.

“I have already started registering vendors for the 2020 craft fair,” said Lucas, the excitement evident in her voice.  Next year’s planning for the fair is already in full motion.
