JISOO released her newest mini-album AMORTAGE on streaming services on February 14, 2025, launching her into popularity. The album has sold over 200 thousand copies, is certified platinum in Korea, making it her second biggest album, and was given a 2X gold certificate by QQ Music, making it the fastest album to achieve this.
With the sudden attention she’s received, you can’t help but wonder where she came from. Where did she start?
JISOO was originally, and still is, a member of the K-Pop group Blackpink, and she is also an actress and model. Her personal songs differ from Blackpink’s music in terms of speed, though. Blackpink is faster, with some rapping portions, while JISOO’s songs tend to be more reminiscent of pop and features no rapping portions. JISOO’s personal album, AMORTAGE, features four songs: “earthquake,” “Your Love,” “TEARS,” and “Hugs & Kisses.”

“earthquake”
This song is slower at first, but is reminiscent of a Tate McRae song: a classical pop with an almost techno backdrop. The beat and music are something easy to dance to. The lyrics make this uniquely K-pop, with the typical mix of Korean and English. Overall, this song is a 5/5, and is the kind of song you’d want to play at a party. Definitely makes you want to dance with a lot of space.
“Your Love”
This song loses the techno but still feels like a 2010 top hit. It’s reminiscent of songs like “2002” by Anne-Marie. It has a whimsical summer-love vibe to it. Overall, this song is rated a 5/5. It’s nostalgic even for first-time listeners. The lyrics and JISOO’s voice are perfect, and the music is light and fun.
“TEARS”
This song, unlike “Your Love,” features a darker beat and music, but is still pop-like and easy to dance to. It feels like the end of a breakup recovery, and is definitely something to listen to so personal confidence can be regained. It’s fun and light in terms of tone, and JISOO’s voice creates the perfect contrast to the deeper beat of this song. Overall, another 4/5.
“Hugs & Kisses”
Another song perfect for a breakup. It has a high riff in the music that’s reminiscent of the 2010 hits like “The Middle” by Zed and “Where Are U Now” by Justin Bieber. A solid 5/5 and a remarkably catchy song to listen to.
Overall, the album is nostalgic and fun to listen to, which is perfect, and just in time for summer. This is a great album to add to your summer vibes playlist.
