Brandon McDaniel is not only the Dakota Ridge High School custodian, he’s also an important part of the community. McDaniel has worked at DRHS for two years and loves the energy of the students and teachers, which is why he always comes into school with a smile on his face and a positive attitude. Despite all the work McDaniel does, such as managing his team of custodians and taking care of the entire school, he doesn’t seem to get tired.
“High school kids aren’t that bad,” McDaniel said.
But when McDaniel was asked why he is always so happy at school he said, “I have to remain professional because I am considered the supervisor of custodians.”
McDaniel doesn’t just spend all his time at school, though, he also enjoys fantasy football and listens to podcasts in his free time. Prior to working at Dakota Ridge, he worked at Ken Caryl Middle School and Lenin Elementary. He enjoyed both of his prior jobs, but he says he prefers high school and this environment over any other place he has worked.
The principal’s secretary, Jennifer Hastert, is in charge of calling on McDaniel for mishaps that may happen around the school. Because of this, McDaniel and Hastert have gotten to know each other well.
“He takes care of everything related to the building,” Hastert said. “He is super friendly. He takes care of teachers when they need something. He takes care of the administration when they need something. He sets up for assembly. He is our go-to guy.”
