Saturday morning the Dakota Ridge Eagles took to the field at Jeffco Stadium to verse off against the Ponderosa Mustangs. Despite being the 4th game of the season for the Eagles, this was their first game at Jeffco Stadium, their home field.

The Mustangs started the game strong with a touchdown in the first quarter. The teams went into the second quarter 0 Eagles/7 Mustangs. In the second quarter, Dakota was able to score 10 points while Ponderosa took 7 more points. Thus ending the first half at 10 Eagles/14 Mustangs with the Mustangs taking a 4 point lead. Looking like it could end up being a close game, the Eagles went into the second half with their heads high.

Going into the 3rd quarter Dakota Ridge was unable to score any points, while Ponderosa took 20 more points in the 3rd quarter devastating the Eagles down to a score of 10 for the Eagles and 34 for the Mustangs. Finally ending the game during the 4th quarter, the Mustangs were able to take a final 7 points to win the game. Ending the game at a solid 10 Eagles and 41 Mustangs.

Dakota Ridge players, while taking a devastating loss, still have hope for the rest of the season. “[The team] will learn from this” says Riley Fisher (12) talking about next week’s all important game.

Next week the Eagles will play their homecoming game vs Vista Peak at Jeffco Stadium, Friday Sept. 28.
