This month’s local news in summary.

On September 9th, The Jefferson County Board of Commissioners held a telephone town hall that discussed mental health and substance abuse in Jefferson County because numerous members of Jeffco struggle with these issues. Many members from Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) and the Jefferson Center for Mental Health discussed topics such as substance abuse. A record of the call is on the JCSCO website,

Jefferson County Historic Preservation Day happened on September 16, in which the Jefferson County Historical Commission (JCHC) presented its yearly Historic Preservation Symposium using the official JCHC YouTube channel. It has 4 videos discussing the history of Jefferson County and its preservation. It can be found here

On September 23, at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds, Sheriff Shrader will host the Safety in Faith Summit that offers information, safety, and security for houses of faith leaders. Registration is required and can be found here.

In other news, according to the city of Wheat Ridge, National Public Lands Day will hold an event on September 25th from 8:30 – 1:30 p.m. in Wheat Ridge along the Peak to Plains Trail in order to clean up Clear Creek. Volunteers will clean vegetation and remove trash and noxious weeds. If you would like to participate, you can sign up here. Select September 25th and bring any supplies listed in the sign up sheet.
